Chapter 1: Short Goblin Goes Boom!
Norrath. A world of mystery, wonder, and danger. Some seek to enlighten; others to destroy.
The Faydark Champions are among the High Elven society of Felwithe, located in the elven forest of Greater Faydark. Their smaller cousins, the Wood Elves, also live in this forest safe in the trees out of reach of the filthy and brutal orcs from Clan Crushbone.
Starrfoxx Whitestar grew up in a family full of magic. His father, an Elder Wizard. His mother, a magnificent Magician. His sister, an Enchantress who went out one day to forage in the forest for ingredients for a new recipe she was creating and sadly never returned. Ireth's body was never found, so no one knew if she was alive or dead. No elf had the time to look either, due to the ongoing violence coming from the Crushbone Orcs and other global matters involving Norrath. His father, Valandil, wanted to search for his lost daughter. However, he was sent on a dire quest of the utmost urgency. That was a rotation ago.
Starrfoxx was now of age, and he was determined to finally put to rest his sister's fate. He also wanted to find out what happened to his father. The Elder Wizards refused to answer his questions about his father, which didn't inspire any more confidence in the matter. Some would whisper behind his back that he was reckless, but Starr ignored them. He seeked answers; craved them. His friends sought other things.
Kyzer, one of Felwithe's new Defenders, was among the swiftest of the newest Paladins that graduated. He and Starrfoxx had been the closest of friends for many rotations. Kyzer was at the top of his graduating class, and he sought glory for his fellow High Elves. He wanted to do his part of ridding evil from the forest and the lands beyond.
Firestarr, another of Starrfoxx's friends, was a magician who graduated a year ago from the Art Keeper's Citadel. She sought knowledge and meaning behind the magic of Norrath. It was not enough for her to perform magic. She wanted to embrace it, to know it, and to understand it.
Both friends new that their desires would take them away from home, so they needed to prepare for the day that happened. Their skills needed to be sharpened. They also needed money in their pockets, since spell scrolls and weapons were not free on this world. Food was not a problem, since Firestarr could summon it from her magic. It wasn't always the tastiest, but it would suffice until real food could be paid for.
Starr and his friends went out into the Faydark forest to help clean out the infestation of bugs, skeletons, and orcs patrolling around. Some of the things they managed to find off the creatures sold for a little silver and gold, but only a little. They decided to help out good 'ol Tacar Tissleplay deliver mail to their elven cousins in Kelethin. Along the way they met an Enchantress named Mika, who was delivering mail also. Starr thought she might have been lost, because she was headed in the direction of Camp Crushbone. He politely suggested that Kelethin was in a different direction and offered to have her join him and his friends. She cheerfully accepted.
Some of his peers would frown upon the Wood Elves for hiding up in the trees of the forest. Not Starrfoxx, however. He respected the Wood Elves and admired their morality of living in harmony with nature. And he knew that they fought the orcs in their own way. Each of the High Elves received their payment for mail successfully delivered.
Idia saw the youth and determination in their eyes and saw the ripeness for adventure in each of them.
"We at the League of Antonican Bards have a great courier system made up of travelers and adventurers like yourselves. We pay good gold to anyone who will take messages to one of our distant offices. Would you be interested in helping us out more," Idia asked.
Starrfoxx and his friends nodded. Mika was staring off in another direction giggling.
"Excellent. I have messages that need to go to," she paused and then continued, "well, right now I have some that need to go to Freeport. Would you help deliver mail to Freeport for us?"
Kyzer was the first to step forward and bow. "Ma'am, as a representative of the Felwithe Defenders, it would be my honor to assist." Starrfoxx and Firestarr also acknowledged their assistance, while Mika was giggling at a few spots on her footwear.
A smile crossed Idia's face. "Very well. Take these pouches to Felisity Starbright in the bard guild hall located in Northern Freeport. I'm sure she will compensate you handsomely for your trouble."

After they had departed, Starr was beginning to wonder if maybe it was too soon to be traveling to a far away land. He had heard about Freeport, and not all of it was good. He didn't feel ready for this, but he didn't want to disappoint his Paladin friend either. Mika didn't seem to mind either way. She was giggling and singing along the way, and Starr thought he might have seen a couple of letters fall from her pouch. They were approaching the mountains of Butcherblock and the end of their forest.
"Wow!" exclaimed Firestarr. "I have never seen the sky like this before!"
"We should be cautious," Starrfoxx warned. We don't know what we'll find out here.
Many things did they find, which they had never seen before. Goblins, scarabs, and dwarves. The latter which were friendly and ...
"Short and chubby", Mika giggled. Starrfoxx looked embarassed, and Kyzer was quick to apologize to keep his honor intact. The dwarf didn't seem to mind, though. He thought it was rather amusing ... or was he amused at Mika? No matter. They had a job to do, and the dwarf had pointed them in the direction of where the boat docks to Freeport would be.
"Beware of dem Goblins!" the dwarf stated as the elves departed.
As they followed the patch westward, they could see the Butcherblock Dock in the distance. That wasn't the only thing they saw.
"Goblin!" Kyzer exclaimed.
Starrfoxx studied the creature from a distance. "He's a caster. I'm not sure how powerful. I see spells that I do not recognize."
"You can take him! He's just a skinny, skrawny little thing." Mika giggled at her own reference of the goblin. "Light a fire under his bottom, and let us watch how her runs."
Kyzer didn't react, although he did nod in agreement to his friend. Starrfoxx nodded in response. He knew. Kyzer was ready to maintain honor, and had confidence in their abilities. Starrfoxx glanced over at Firestarr, who was preparing a special piece of magic. He thought he heard Mika giggling behind him. Starr turned his head towards the distant goblin, raised his hands, and cast the most powerful fire spell he knew.
Then there was a huge explosion in front them, wild screaming coming at them, and the elves turned and ran back to the dwarven city.
The mail was lost somewhere in between.
